DIY Scholarship Recruit!

I think this is great! If you have a child in sports, go out and find the scholarships and don't sit back and hope they find you.

"The DIY RECRUITING KIT was created by two college recruiting experts to assist motivated student-athletes seeking exposure to college coaches en route to a potential college scholarship. High schools student-athletes who utilize the DIY RECRUITING KIT will set themselves apart from their competition; namely countless other prospects seeking the same, limited number of college roster spots."

  1. Here is my do-it-yourself recruiting experience. Being a sports parent is a tough job but it has it moments, it’s a very expensive if you have two or more kids, especially if they all love playing sports. The more you know the better off you will be. The recruiting process is the same for basketball, baseball, soccer or any other sport for that matter. You are going to try to be recruited from the NCAA, NAIA or NJCAA.
Now there are ‘recruiting services" that secure scholarships for students, we spoke to many of them and even had an interview with one. I use the term interview loosely here; it was more a sales pitch power-point presentation. I want our phone numbers and email addresses on everything I sent so the coaches could contact us. This was a problem with the services I first looked at. They made coaches come back to their web site to get my information. The first two things that popped into my head was 1) why don't you include it in the first place 2) if the coach has to come back to the web site it flag them and lets them know what position that coach is looking for, so they could easily send all athletes they have in that position to that coach thus watering down my son's chances.
We heard a lot of promises from recruiting services, some really far out, even from some well know ones. Beware of recruiting services that want to rate or rank your son or daughter then only send them to a limited number of colleges. Not all recruiting services are alike so weigh their features.
After I was to deep into my lookup and typing task I ran across a recruiting service that let you control all aspects was eScout4u.com, plus they would let you send to all coaches and staff in all divisions, cool. A big plus to them is they included my contact information so coaches could contact me directly. This recruiting service lets you get your son or daughter in front of as many coaches as possible. After all it is the coaches decision and each coach will have to know about your son or daughter before they can even begin to be evaluated. Like getting a job, get a service that can get you in front of the most coaches. Just as I am doing it lets you send to the coaches directly a much better method than the others plus they would let you send to all coaches and staff in all divisions, cool. Plus even send follow-up letters. Granted no service is cheap but a whole lot easier to pay off in a sensible timescale at reasonable rates than a 4 year education.
Important to know that coaches are already looking two and three years ahead so the earlier you start the better chance you have of securing the right scholarship for your son or daughter. We have found the have planning boards they track athletes on. Your son or daughter can make it one them, be bumped off if better talent comes along or raise or lower in rank. An example of one of the can be found here http://www.escout4u.com/Scholarships/college-athletic-scholarships/How-to-get-noticed-by-college-coaches.html then select the PPB buttons on the lower part of the screen.
I suppose the first thing to tell you is this, it’s not going to be free, easy or done in two or three days, think weeks of looking up college contact information. It’s going to cost you about a lot of money depending on just how much effort and time you put into it. I’m laying it out, as I would do it now given all of the research I put in and information I have available.
The biggest expense (time and money) and not in any order will be 1) to look up every coach and staff to get contact information, 2) creating and printing color flyers to go with each video, 3) creating label and DVD's, mailers so DVD will be protected, mailing costs.
The more coaches and staff you can get in the better your odds are so make sure you cover all NCAA divisions like D1, D2, D3 (no athletic scholarships but in lieu offer financial aid) and don’t forget NAIA http://www.playnaia.org.
